Alltrad's experience with texts of the European Union dates back to 1992 to its first translations for the European Commission, extended in 1994 to the European Parliament, to the Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union and to the Court of Justice.

At the moment, translations for European Institutions are assigned to contractors on the basis of tenders which, also according to sector of specialisation, establish strict requirements with regard to the qualifications and experience of the translators to whom these are assigned.

In addition to a major contract for translation of Community Trademarks in the industrial property sector, Alltrad has also been awarded a suite of contracts in various other sectors.

In 2006, Alltrad stipulated contracts, still in course, with the Court of Justice for translation of specialised legal texts from English, French, Spanish and German into Italian [+info].

In 2008, Alltrad was awarded a framework contract with the Translation Centre for the Bodies of the European Union for the translation of general texts concerning EU policies from English, French and German into Italian. Other framework contracts apply to translation services addressing various scientific areas: the chemical sector, concerning primarily ECHA texts, i.e. of the European Chemicals Agency (stipulated in 2009), the environment (in force since 2010) as well as the medical and pharmaceutical sectors (framework contract signed in 2011, concerning mainly texts of EMA, the European Medicines Agency).

Alltrad cooperates with the European Commission under a framework contract stipulated in 2008 for the translation from English, French and German of texts concerning general EU policies, and several sector framework contracts: for the translation of legal documents from English to Italian (contract signed in 2009) and of economic and financial texts from English and French into Italian (in force since 2010); technical translations in the fields of transport, telecommunications and ICT from French to Italian and in the fields of agriculture, fishing, natural and environmental sciences from English and French to Italian (also stipulated in 2010). These latter sector contracts envisage high level technical specialisation in the respective sectors.

All contracts are stipulated for one year and are renewed automatically for a maximum of four years.
